Special year end message from FA Solutions…

Dear Friends!

It has certainly been an intensely busy year for everyone in financial aid, and I’m happy to say the New Year will be upon us all shortly.  As an “observer” of the financial aid industry for much of my married life, it was obvious that this was an industry that was complex, ever changing, and incredibly challenging, but the reality is that it’s much more difficult than most any outsider can imagine.

Peak seasons, high volume, manual processes, changing regulations, staff turnovers, and missing documents can certainly play havoc and truly wear out a person, or a team.  Anxious students, parents, and college leadership sometimes makes your head spin.  Some may think you’re more in the “financial aid prevention” department, instead of the actual financial aid processing department, not fully realizing that you’re not only trying to process aid that the students are eligible for and that the school needs, but that you must do so compliantly. With all of this, you may ask yourself;” What am I doing in the financial aid industry at all?  The truth of the matter is that it takes a very special kind of person to work in this industry:

  • a dedicated and diligent person
  •  person who truly believes in a job well done
  • a person who believes in the future of our students, and who is partially responsible for the greatness that happens with them as they continue their growth

In short, it takes a person like YOU to keep the “wheels” of financial aid and our students moving forward. Financial aid is a challenging profession, but one that is worth it!

This is a time of year when I hope each of you get a chance to recharge your batteries, and by all means; you deserve it.  As I’ve mentioned before, I’m 100% biased.  I married into the financial aid world around 20 years ago, when Brenda and I first began dating, and believe me, I fully understand that it’s sometimes an underappreciated position. Along with my bias however, I simply want to say Thank You for all that you do, and all that you are.  You have a very important role in the growth and success of the career of millions.

I wish you a very Merry Christmas, and an extraordinarily Happy New Year! If you’re interested in learning more about FA Solutions’ services, feel free reach out to us. You can connect with me through our contact form or directly using the contact information below.
